Overview: Istanbul is a major city in Turkey that straddles Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus Strait. Its Old City reflects the cultural influences of the many empires that once ruled here. In the Sultanahmet district, the open-air, Roman-era Hippodrome was for centuries the site of chariot races, and Egyptian obelisks also remain. The iconic Byzantine Hagia Sophia features a soaring 6th-century dome and rare Christian mosaics.

Pick-up from the hotel at 08:30 am. Buyukada, literally “Big Island” in Turkish, means Princes' Islands and is the largest and most populated of the Princes’ Islands. Buyukada was used as an exile destination and as a monastery region during the Byzantine Christian period. During Byzantine history, the island was also used as a prison for those who were opposing the emperor. It was Buyukada where the Byzantine empresses Irene and Zoe and Anna Dalassena were sent to exile. After his deportation from the Soviet Union in February 1929, Leon Trotsky also stayed for four years in Buyukada. We see mansions, palaces, churches, convents, and much more...
